Singing is the act of producing musical sounds with the voice, and all have the ability to sing. However, the sound of each individual’s singing voice is entirely unique not only because of the actual shape and size of an individual’s vocal cords but also due to the size and shape of the rest of that person’s body.

Scientific studies suggest that singing can have positive effects on people’s health. A preliminary study based on self-reported data from a survey of students participating in choral singing found perceived benefits including increased lung capacity, improved mood, stress reduction, as well as perceived social and spiritual benefits.

If you think you have a unique voice and you are not one of those normal bathroom singer’s, beside’s you enjoy singing so much that you are so passionate about it that you can start singing anywhere, then you shouldn’t give up and try to enhance your singing skills as much as you can.

First of all, if you haven’t already then you need to take some vocal lessons. Having a voice coach can really train your voice and, if you practice, you will notice marked vocal improvement within a few weeks. Voice training is important in strength and overall quality of your voice. You can also damage your voice if you aren’t singing properly. If you can’t afford vocal lessons try a learn at home voice training program like Singing Success or Sing for the Stars as they can teach the basic foundations of voice technique. Find which note your voice is most comfortable singing at and sing there a lot. Its also important to at least know the basics in playing an instrument, particularly the guitar or piano. Even if you cannot play it well, you must have some knowledge of notes and tuning. This will help you to evaluate your singing skills and provide instrumental accompaniment. Practice, practice and practice as it will just make you better. Try singing in the public and build up the confidence, start gaining some practical experience by singing wherever and whenever you get a chance to do so in front of a group of people (karaoke bars, parties, family gatherings, etc.). Try taking part in talent shows which are quite common nowadays, although the application process might be very stressful and if you dont get through you might get very demotivated, but you will always feel satisfied that you tried. Most importantly get known, try to get your voice to as many ears as you can, and you can start by joining the Singing group and uploading your videos.
